About
Australian Artist
Michelle Macnamara, originally from Melbourne, works from her home studio in Byron Bay, where she resides with her husband and daughter.
Working predominantly in oil on linen, her dynamic artworks aim to create a dreamlike, contemplative atmosphere and exude a profound sense of possibility.
With a deep passion for both drawing and painting from a young age, Michelle’s work consistently incorporates the female form and is steeped in self-portraiture.
Since 2006, Michelle has held multiple solo and group exhibitions globally. Her work is privately collected around the world.
While each individual painting can be described by the bold yet harmonious colours, it is the unique and evocative feeling that truly define her work. Whether depicting a simple nude or a detailed composition, Michelle’s artworks represent a honed practice of being completely present.
Each piece invites the observer to peer into a world uniquely connected to a moment in time, offering a perfectly imperfect reflection of life.
Michelle is represented by Thom Gallery in Byron Bay.
